Nippon Connection filmfestival 2006
Concept, Design and Realisation of the publicity (
poster series, program, flyers, cinema trailer, advertising, invitations, ballots, and tickets) for the annual Nippon Connection, Europe’s largest Japanese film festival.
The concept visualizes the meeting of Western and Eastern culture using projection as a stylistic device. Although contact seems to take place between the pair depicted in the publicity material, it remains impossible due to the contradiction of reality and projection. The poster series deals with the great themes of Japanese cinema such as longing and daydreams, disillusionment and unfulfilled expectations, aggression and the distances within personal relationships. Each poster conveys its own cinematic atmosphere. As the protagonists remain the same, it is possible to link the posters together in narrative contexts.
