A work for the novel »dragon blood/ the alien friend« from german author Christoph Hein.

It`s a book about modern living: foreignness, coldness, isolation. These emotion are described through the protagonist and first-person narrator, a young doctor, who has literally put an emotional armor around herself. She feels invulnerable as if she had bathed in »dragon blood« (a reference to an old german legend; the »Nibelungen«). Her view on the world is cold and reserved. In her leisure time she photographs dead trees as an expression for her atrophied emotions. My work shows some of her cynical and sometimes desperate thoughts. I used photograms (which I exposed in my own little photo lab on photo paper) to achieve very strong black and white contrasts that underline the strength and implacability of her emotions.
